Chapter 7: Shadows and Tall Trees
Is that a creature or a boar on top of the mountain?
Perspective: Jack
Who wants to go tell Piggy that were going to stay over night? Who cares about Piggy? I don't. Simon told us he was going to go tell Piggy that were staying on the mountains over night. I don't think that Simon is bravado enough to go across the island by himself, he might get scared if he sees a creature or a beast. Simon knows deep down inside that he is going to get lost or he won't get to Piggy. We all smell bad and look gross because we have so much brine on our skin. We really need to take a shower. For days we have only been hunting, eating, and sleeping. We have scars and cuts on our body. When Ralph and I saw a pig we wanted to kill it and eat it, but Ralph got too excited just because he cut the throat of the pig. It wasn't that serious! Roger, Ralph, and I decided to go through the forest and go up to the top of the mountains, because I thought I saw a creature, but it turned out to be a boar. Ralph got scared because he thought it was the beast. In the forest there were like vines and you could here the wind and see the ashes. I think that we chose a sage decision because with the three of us nothing bad can happen. I'm in control now not Ralph! Whatever I say goes. This place has no moors, which sucks because it's dark and we are on the mountains but even in the forests they aren't any. I'm not even worried about Simon or Piggy. If Piggy is so smart, I'm pretty sure he can think of a way to survive and handle the littleluns, so I don't understand why he Piggy should be worried about us and why would Simon try to think he is so clever and brave enough to go across the island BY HIMSELF! When I asked Ralph and Roger if they were scared they said no. But I find that hard to believe because Ralph was shaking and Roger had this impervious expression on his face. Are Ralph and Roger going to really go up there with me or stop and go back?
