Chapter 10: The Shell and the Glasses
Going to Castle Rock
Perspective: Ralph
OMG!! Simon died and I feel so guilty. We all thought that the beast was coming and it was Simon so we all started striking him and stabbing him, but as Simon was going with the flow of water from the rain, we saw a dead man with a parachute coming down and he fell from on top of the mountain thinking he was the beast all along. Simon said that the beast was in us, like the evilness. Piggy kept telling me that it was all an accident but killing someone is never an accident. It's just hard to believe that we lost a true friend. Sam n' Eric tried to pretend that they had no part of the murder. I have constantly been having nightmares and scary pictures in my head. How am I ever going to sleep at night? Because of us dancing, and not even tempting to look who the 4- legged person was, we were just acting barmy and stupid. Anyways he is long gone and there is nothing we can do to bring him back. Jack, Roger, and Maurice are going to go hunt some more. Jack thinks that there is a beast still out there so if they come to attack they have their secret weapon. When I was looking around everything seemed purged as I was sitting down thinking about what I should do. I really want to go home but I can't. I bet you Piggy misses his auntie and will never forget this day. I wasn't filled with illumination anymore. I was like a fish without water. I couldn't think straight. I almost wanted to give up being chief to Jack and have no more faith in finding rescue. Days were going by and we weren't getting close to finding clues of how to get home. Jack obviously doesn't know what theology is, because if he did he wouldn't be so evil and dark in the inside. He just thinks about killing and stealing Piggy's specs to start a fire. We reached Castle Rock trying to start a fire so that we can find help. I can't wait until we go home.
