Chapter 2: Fire on the mountain
What goes down on the mountains
Perspective: Ralph

When we were with the boys on the mountains, we were talking about what happened on the other side of the island and what we saw. As I was laughing at Piggy because of the whole beast conversation he felt sad but everybody else thought Piggy was kind of weird. I thought Piggy was annoying. Jack seems too rude and acts all tough, but Simon on the other hand acts shy and smart. As we were trying to make a fire we all had a turn to have the conch and speak. I found the kids and Piggy being errant because they complain about something like every second. I pinched Piggy's specs and he thought I was going to burn them or something, so as I was giving it back to him as the other kids were capering. I thought that this conch being passed around wasn't working over the fire and nobody would listen so I was losing my patience. Then we all saw snakes and we are terrified of snakes. We all were martyred when we couldn't find where the snake went and it could be anywhere on the mountains close to us. Because I kept hearing all of these officious sounds of the loudness from the kids I was losing my mind and I couldn't take it anymore. The fire was pretty big and we were all happy about that. It took teamwork and effort to make a fire because we really needed a match and wood and we had to find that and we needed leaves and other things that would be in a forest so we went and got the stuff we needed and next time we find a pig Jack says he will kill it and we can all eat. I would describe the mountains as a cool, warm, and awesome place to be but the problem is we still can't find anybody to help us or find anything to help us keep in touch with people who can rescue us, so we are still stuck for who knows how many days more. As leader I like being in charge and taking control, all though it's also difficult to have everybody's attention and for everybody to listen to you.
